Studying In New Zealand - New Zealand is a wonderful place to study. It is safe and offers wonderful travel opportunities while you are here. New Zealand is world-renowned for having outstanding scenery, wide open spaces, being clean, green and of course New Zealand was one the first countries to declare itself nuclear-free.

You can enjoy an enormous range of activities while in New Zealand from skiing and snow boarding, to bungy jumping, surfing and white water rafting. There are wonderful bush walks, uncrowded golden sand beaches as well as our unique Maori Culture, and other cultural experiences.

While the climate does vary from region to region overall it is considered to be temperate - not too hot, or cold.

Travel Careers & Training have a campus in Auckland and Wellington. For more information on these two places click on the following sites:

Wellington - www.wellingtonnz.com

Cost of Living:
Living in New Zealand does not cost as much as many other countries. Moderate hotels cost between $100 - $120 a night (NZ dollars). Homestay accommodation costs approximately $200 per week. Student accommodation varies in cost from $150 per week for a room in a hostel or backpackers, to $250 in a higher satndard hostel.

Eating out in New Zealand will be an enjoyable experience with a large range of restaurants which will cater to every taste. Both Auckland and Wellington have hundreds of cafes and restaurants.

Eating out is generally inexpensive, with cafe style meals from $12 through to restaurant means at around $30.00.

Size
New Zealand is equivalent in size to Japan or Britain. It is however cosiderably less crowded with a population of only 4.0 million people, making New Zealand one of the world's least crowded countries.

Geography
New Zealand is known world -wide for its beautiful scenery and indeed it was this scenery that attracted Peter Jackson to choose New Zealand to film the trilogy 'Lord of the Rings'. The wide open spaces, beautiful mountains, valleys and lakes makes New Zealand a beautiful place to live. New Zealand is comprised of several islands with the two main islands being the North Island and the South Island. New Zealand is located in the Southern Pacific Ocean, south-east of Australia.

Climate
New Zealand is known for its clean air and lack of pollution and beautiful blue skies, which makes it a healthy and enjoyable place to live.

As New Zealand is long, narrow islands and lying north-south, and not close to any large land masses the temperature varies little year round and seasonal variations are not very marked. New Zealand summer is from December - February, and winter is from June - August. Auckland can experience in winter 13 - 17 degrees Celsius and in summer 20 - 25 degrees Celsius, while Wellington temperatures can be lower eg 17 -22 degrees in summer and 8 - 13 degrees in winter. Wellington on a nice day is magnificent.
